Because the aim of psychology is to observe and understand the human psyche, research started to be interested in any existing system of beliefs, including religious ones, and the way people have constructed the world. The research started in the 50s with existentialism and phenomenology and then the emergence of humanistic psychology. A few decades after a new current emerged in the field of psychological research: transpersonal psychology.
Transpersonal psychology aims to place people in their environment, space and time. That means that psychologists are not only interested in people\’s personalities but also in their environment. They try to understand how their beliefs influence their behavior and how their behaviors impact the world. Transpersonal psychology is also interested in the traditions and what the traditions taught us In the field of psychology. It may include shamanism, Buddhism and Kabbalah.
Kabbalah stems from the esoteric Jewish tradition. It defines a structure based on ten sephirot representing ten functions or values (compassion, rigour…). The sephirot are centres of energy and represent universal values. The sephirot are linked by paths represented by 22 letters showing how the energies flow between the ten energy centres. The overall structure has been represented, most of the time by a tree, the Tree of Life.
This course is also about the four levels of readings and the four different worlds representing four aspects of the psyche: cognitive, material, emotional and spiritual.
This course presents how Kabbalah may help us to understand the human psyche and personalities. It includes several exercises so that you can become aware and practice the ten energies that we have at our disposal.
