Finally, the worlds of science and academia are beginning to take an interest in consciousness and spirituality. Until now, "materialist" scientists refused to even discuss it because the methods they usually used couldn't be applied. And for good reason: how can you measure a level of consciousness or study the effects of spirituality in a laboratory? Even the definition of consciousness remains problematic, which naturally makes its study difficult because how can you observe something that can't be defined?
But things are moving, and after this summer's conference at the University of Montpellier on 'Management and Spirituality', another conference has been organized in London, 'Beyond the Brain'. Researchers, philosophers, psychologists, and neuroscientists will gather to talk about after-death experiences, consciousness, the brain (how can this matter produce consciousness, if it does?), and the effects of meditation on well-being...
